KAREN SWARTZ

A deep love for simplicity, minimal color palettes and rich texture is clearly visible in Karen Swartz' abstract color-field compositions, as well as an enthusiasm for finding and enhancing the intrinsic beauty in nature. Most works fuse traditional media and techniques, such as canvas & paper, painted with acrylic with elements of nature such as horse hair, feathers, and snakeskin.

Karen's compositions mirror her approach to life. Breaking down each days journey into manageable moments of meditation, as she hopes her audience will do with her work. Taking time to appreciate each color transition, textural shift, and each carefully placed focal point.

Born and raised in a small town in the pine covered country of the Piedmont in North Carolina, Karen draws inspiration from these rural surroundings as well as her various world travels. She loves spending time in her studio, teaching yoga, eating spicy foods and snuggling up with a good book and her two dogs Simon & Cali.
